Insurance

All Clients must be fully insured for climbing in the Alps. Remember to include the travel days if you are taking out a short-term policy.

Most insurance schemes include cover for:

  • Cancellation/Curtailment up to £2,000

  • Travel Delay and Missed Departure

  • Medical Expenses and Repatriation up to £1m

  • Mountain Rescue up to £20,000

  • Personal Accident up to £10,000

  • Baggage and Personal Effects up to £1,500

  • Personal Liability up to £1m

  • Money/Documents up to £300

Recommended Policies include:

  • Austrian Alpine Club (AAC)

If you have your own private medical insurance then joining the AAC gives you a basic annual  worldwide cover for skiing and mountaineering (Check the exclusions !) and reductions for hut fees as part of the membership package. It will not cover you for a major medical emergency that requires a lengthy hospital stay abroad. Their website is:  www.aacuk.org.uk

  • The British Mountaineering Council (BMC)

Offers competitive short term insurance for the Alps as well as an annual cover. Their website is:  www.thebmc.co.uk

  • Foundry Travel Insurance

Offers very competitive short term insurance with similar cover to the BMC. Their website is: www.foundrytravel.com

 

Clients must bring their insurance certificate out to the Alps
